Art 3 and it's own programme of Exhibitions started for real on 4 March 2002, with a 2 person show of Sebastiano Bonello and Tim Dean, two different types of abstract painters. One of the ideas I had got for this venture was to develop a series of group shows under the title of 'London Landscape'. The first of these exhibitions took place over April and May, featuring two artists already known to us Robert Flather and Miles Henderson-Smith and three bought together via an open submission policy Kitty Reford, Chris Francis and Sonja Stringer. Next up was our only real disaster so far the two-person show of Tove Cabarello and Patrick Mills. In theory this should have been a good one, and most of the reasons it was not, were nothing to do with Tove, who did everything asked of her. Unfortunately the attitude and un-professionalism of another artist involved let everyone down.

On a more positive note, 'Art 4 cash' was an exhibition by 3 HND/C students Chris Rowe, Rita Bertani and Brenda Grace, from Richmond Adult & Community College, whom I teach contextual studies to. Following straight on from their end of year show at college, this exhibition -and the organisation of it- was part of a module of study on their course for these students. It was also my intention with Art 3 to forge links with colleges on a regular basis, which I have been unfortunately unable to build on at present. For these students it was their first show outside of college and it was good to get them some sales. It was back to the area of 'watercolour challenge with Liz Elmhirst . and September saw the Polar Press Group showing. This group is a printmaking group featuring both Jonet and Jane, and the nucleus of the artists that used to show at the Vines.

Our Second year began with an artist who had shown at the gallery twice previously before we were involved, Jane Bristowe showed around 30 pastel drawings, which were very popular and led to quite a few sales. By contrast, our show over Christmas Scenes of London a series of etchings by Italian artist Biagio Mastroianni, didnšt get the sales it deserved. Jonet Harley-Peters left Art 3 at the start of 2003, as commitments elsewhere in her practice were becoming increasingly busier, as already stated Jane and I have kept using the name of Art 3 anyway. Two one person shows started the year off Tish Tunstall and then Neil Pittaway, the former of which was a really big seller including a substantial investment by one purchaser of 6 of her paintings. Colour by Numbers is a project which I am starting to develop and explores the interaction between numeracy and colour. on an ongoing basis. This first exhibition featured myself, Steven Barrett and Chris Klein, and was put on from the end of March through until June. After a one person show from Photographer Sally Phipps Hornby, we came to the second of the London Landscape exhibitions, this time dealing primarily with West London. Teaming up with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Arts officers Debbie Golt and Amanda Smethurst this exhibition forms part of the Earlšs Court Festival, and is currently on as I write this and runs to early September. The artists selected for this show are, Lesley Giles, Jessica Shattock. Camilla Robinson and Vanessa Sherry. So this pretty much brings us to the end of our second year running these exhibitions, if you would like more information about the shows and/or would like to be on the mailing list please e mail me or .Jane Stothert From the Autumn of 2003 each of the exhibitions has their own indivdual pages and can be accessed via the current exhibition list.
