GERALDINE SWAYNE

Geraldine Swayne previously exhibited in her solo exhibition @ The Wine Gallery (September/October 2003),

Geraldine's paintings have been described as cinematic, which pleases her, since working with life-models moved her to start using a camera in her practice. Here work often resonates with a sense of the supernatural. The subjects can seem frozen in moments of surprise and apprehension. There is a melancholy and slightly erotic voyeristic quality to her pictures. She wants the people to be unaware that they are being watched.

Her 2003 solo show has been one of Art 3's most successful exhibitions so far. A series of figurative paintings and digital prints partly inspired by Venetian ghost stories that were imbued with their strong sense of mystery and danger.

Geraldine will also be having another solo exhibition @ The Wine Gallery towards the end of 2005
