Art 3 are pleased to present an exhibition of new pictures by Elin Thomas in this, her first solo show in West London. Elin's recent visits to major exhibitions in NewYork and Berlin have inspired a return to vibrant colour. She was moved to focus on creating striking images by combining strong hues and the simplest of abstract forms. One can draw reference to artists such as Terry Frost, Patrick Heron and the forms of American Abstract Expressionist Adolph Gotlieb.

The creative process starts in the studio in a spontaneous manner, building up colour over subsequent days. She feels strongly that abstract paintings reach a point of balance where the work has sufficient impact but hasn't become over cluttered with forms and colour. Like many abstract painters, she believes studying the complex relationships between co lour, shape and space can be a lifelong passion.

Elin has spent a significant time in academic studies learning specifically about painting - completing her Masters at Bath Spa University in 2003. Alongside this she has worked for many years in interior design working with clients to create site-specific art works. She exhibits regularly having had two solo shows per year for the last three years, with recent shows in South Wales and Bristol.
