Art 3 are pleased to present new paintings & drawings by Debra Collis. She will be exhibiting recent drawings (in various media), and paintings that show her interest in the forms of male and female nudes, depictions of the figure and portraits in related environments, as well as some works that were executed in response to her stay in Florence., f
amiliar experience.
Debra Collis's work is essentially concerned with the human figure, how it interacts with the space around it, and through variations of colour and light she tries to convey a pictorial harmony and emotional response to the subject.  Depicting a ‘live’ model in contrast to a ‘dead’ or still background or human activity in relation to its environment is appealing and through direct observation or source sketches, I explore these themes.

Debra is especially committed to a figurative approach to painting and although not attempting ‘realistic depiction’, she is trying to use the elements that were very visible in the work of artists of earlier epochs.  Her training as an artist began at The Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art.
