As well as being one of the key protagonists and organisers for East in 2 West, and the common link between Art 3 and ASC, Pete will be exhibiting in his own right " My interest lies with utilising Systems sequence and correlation in general. I work using several different media, be it acrylic paint on canvas or board, digital images and computer prints. Even the use of nail varnish and Tippex pens. I am drawn to the duality of having a defined structure within which I must work whilst being able to apply endless concepts and approaches within this framework. Thus the art that I produce can be as much about the system being used as it is about a particular theme or emotion. Dialogues can be developed from Individual works that create a related series if hung together, Individual modules/panels of the same multi-component work or Individual areas of the same individual work that create a cognitive dialogue within themselves For much of the past 6 years my starting point has been the simple Cuissenaire rod abacus: a system of 10 counting rods each with associated colours used to teach maths back in the 1960's. Works can generally described abstract and uses strong colour in relation to existing systems; such as the cycles of nature, numbers, energy waves and colour therapy bottles. More recently I have been utilising landscape –in it’s broadest sense - as a subject matter whilst nudging the borders of abstraction. The aim is always to positively stimulate the viewer’s aesthetic responses, whilst engaging their mind conceptually" .
